Explore the depths of Medvednica Mountain by visiting Veternica, a cave with more than seven kilometres of tunnels. Only the first 400 metres are open to visitors, but that is more than enough to admire the underground beauty of nature. Apart from being a geomorphological monument of nature, Veternica is also a paleontological and archaeological treasure, with finds that date back to the time of the Neanderthals. Today the cave is the home to no less than 18 species of bats, most of which hibernate here. A lot of effort is invested in their protection, including an adoption programme that gives you the opportunity to make a difference yourself.
